After he becomes successful on the Internet, he gains the help of two anonymous friends to become a force that kicks ass.

Hey Everyone, welcome to the newest of Dr.Film reviews, which is Kick Ass. The superhero movie with a twist.directed by Matthew Vaughn.

SPOILER ALERT: As ever, there's going to be spoilers so to the people who don't want spoilers, please turn away now.

This movie was released in the UK on the 26th of March 2010 and was released in the USA on the 16th of April 2010.

I have to start off this review, by saying Kick Ass isn't like any other superhero movie, and so for that reason it can't be taken too seriously, if you take it too seriously then that spoils the whole enjoyment of the film, because some of it's piss take, and then some of it isn't. As a premis this movie classifies to me as a comedy because most of the jokes are current, and they all work.

The Storyline is about a young man called Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who see's himself as an average, unaccomplished, unnoticed high school student. As a comic book fan he believes that there are real superhero's out there, ready to save the day from the forces of crime. Dave has only a few friends and lives at home alone with his father (Garrett M. Brown). Dave's life is not very difficult in comparison to his personal trials.

However, one day he makes the simple craziest decision to become a super-hero even though he knows he has no powers or training, but believes he can stop crime wherever it is.

There is really bad guy called Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) who controls the mob, and is the arch enemy of Damon 'Big Daddy' Macready (Nicholas Cage) who's plan is to take revenge on D'Amico and his whole mob gang, after D'Amico framed him for a crime he did not commit. he is training up his daughter Mindy (Chloë Moretz) to help him with his plans as 'Hit Girl'.

After Kick Ass becomes famous on the Internet and on TV,  Dave's alternate ego turns into a celebrity and well known face.

But Frank D'Amico has his eye on Kick Ass and see's him as a threat to him and his mob gang, so D'Amico will stop at nothing to kill Kick Ass.

This film is awesome, it is such a treat for all comic book fans, so enjoyable. I thought the story was good, not too complex. good hero's, convincing villain, atmospheric settings, lots and lots of action and graphic violence which makes it believable as a comic strip movie.

It just felt to me like an action movie and I loved this film, in seconds. I just felt it was so refreshing to present the ideas across in such a very well executed way, from writing the dialogue down on paper to bringing it to life on the big screen.

All the effects, were amazing so visually accomplished very well. I thought that the designs of the super suits were interesting. particularly seeing as Big Daddy reminds viewers a lot of The Dark Knight, but that doesn't fault Nicholas Cage's agility by any means, I thought all his actions were quick pased and very agitamet.

The main members of the cast, that stick out in my mind as being great were Aaron Johnson as Kick Ass / Dave Lizewski, I thought he was good at making his teenage boy come true to the viewers and accomplish that character throughout the entire film.

Another one that stuck out in my mind, was Mark Strong as 'Frank D'Amico' you can not fault his performance Mark Strong is a fantastic villain, he's a great actor who is very convincing as someone who could be evil, who could be dangerous, so very happy with how Mark Strong played his character straight and proper.

In a nutshell, Kick Ass is absolutely worth watching. It's fantastic.

I'm going to give it an 8/10

1 Gold Star to Aaron Johnson
1 Gold Star to Mark Strong
