Review - Hot Fuzz

Hot Fuzz - When Nicholas Angel's colleagues conspire against him to get their top of the list London police officer out of the picture, they transfer him to a small county village and pair him up with a new partner, who's less intelligent than he is. It doesn't take PC Angel long to discover, a series of suspicious accidents and events.

Hey everyone

Welcome to a new Dr Film, film review. today I shall be reviewing 'Hot Fuzz' written by Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg, and directed by Edgar Wright
.
'Hot Fuzz' was released in the UK on the 14th of February 2007 and was released in the USA on the 20th of April 2007.

SPOILER ALERT: In all of my reviews, there's going to be spoilers. If you haven't seen 'Hot Fuzz' yet and you don't want it to be spoiled, I recommend you read this a bit later.

This is the first film, I have reviewed that stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The two of them have done a few films together, stuff like 'Paul', 'Shaun of the Dead' and their new film 'World's End' which will be out later this year.

'Hot Fuzz' was the second time that these two actors paternerd up to do a film together, and since 'Shaun of the Dead' got such a great reaction, from the viewers and the critics, the states were high for 'Hot Fuzz' and people weren't too sure wither or not it was going to meet up to their expectations.

However, speaking as a viewer who loves Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movies, I really enjoyed 'Hot Fuzz'. the story was great, good characters, it was really funny, lots of nice jokey moments, some dark, spooky elements, heavy action sequences, lots of running about. It was in all fairness a very good film, but speaking as a viewer who loved 'Run fat boy, run' I don't think 'Hot Fuzz' cut the mustard in comparison to a light comedy such as 'Run fat boy, run' which was in some cases so much better.

The Story is basically about a top of the chart, London Police Officer, PC Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) who is good at his job. Some might argue too good. And to stop the rest of his team looking like a bunch of idiots, his department reassigns him to the quiet village of Sandford.

It is there he is paired up with Danny Butterman (Nick Frost), who endlessly questions him on the action lifestyle of being a police officer. Everything seems too quiet for Angel, until he finds that two actors were found decapitated on the road, believed to have died in a car crash.

The whole thing is called to be 'an accident', but Angel isn't going to accept that, especially when more and more people in the village turn up dead. Angel and Danny then start to clash with everyone in the village, as they try to uncover the truth behind the mystery of the apparent "accidents".

As I said earlier 'Hot Fuzz' is a very good film, to give it credit. It's well written, well acted, some could argue not as best directed as it could have been. But in all fairness, the plot was funny, dark, spooky and so overtly bloody that the viewer knows not to take it so seriously.
There are some lovely guest actors coming in to play parts, people like 'Jim Broadbent', 'Timothy Doltan','Oliva Coleman','Martin Freeman','Bill Bailey' and 'Bill Nighy'. all of which give a very fantastic performance. was very pleased with the guest cast, nice to see a few familiar faces to brighten up the story a little bit.

I thought the casting of the village, was really well chosen. I don't know what the village that was chosen was called, but still I thought it set the mood brilliantly and gave the whole thing a sense of place, so well done to the director on choosing such an elaborate place to set a very humorous, yet very dark story.

I really liked 'Simon Pegg' as 'Nicholas Angel' because Simon Pegg is a fantastic actor and script writer. he's definitely in my top 10 actors. I think he brought a sense of seriousness to the role, but was very funny at the same time.

I also enjoyed seeing 'Nick Frost' as 'Danny Butterman'. I thought he was really good, especially seeing as he was playing a character whose skills were a bit limited. but then again he wasn't stupid, his character of Danny just tends to learn from hard hitting police movies such as 'Point Break' and 'Bad Boys 2'.

I think my favourite scene in the film is were Nick and Danny sit down at Danny's and watch 'Point Break' and 'Bad Boys 2' back to back, whilst someone is getting blown up. I'm not saying that's the best scene in the film. but it's my favourite. Because it shows a lot of humour, a lot of character development, with something very sinister happening as well.

In a nutshell 'Hot Fuzz' isn't too bad. It's watchable. I'd recommend it to people who haven't seen it yet to watch it.
I'm going to award 'Hot Fuzz' a 7/10
1 Gold Star to Simon Pegg

Thank you for reading this review

Next Time - I will review Tom Burton's 'Sweeny Todd' movie musical. starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.

Review - Lincoln

Lincoln - As the American Civil War continues to rampage, America's president has to make a choice, a choice that will decide the fate of his country's future.

Hello Everyone

Hope you had a nice relaxing weekend. Welcome to my newest rant of a film review, which is a Steven Spielberg masterpiece. 'Lincoln' tells the story of a man on the brink of making a choice of either continuing carnage on the battlefield or stop the fighting and emancipate the slaves.

SPOILER ALERT: As I do in all my reviews, I reveal the odd spoiler or two, so if you haven't seen this film and you don't want it to be spoiled, you should turn away now.

This film was released in the US on the 16th of November 2012, and released in the UK on the 25th of January 2013. From today it is now available to percahse on DVD, Blu-Ray and on Itunes.

The Film is based off the historical events of Abraham Lincoln, and it's set in a time where he had to make a critical decisison. In 1865, as the American Civil War drove toward conclusion, U.S. president Abraham Lincoln endeavours to achieve passage of the landmark constitutional amendment which will forever ban slavery from the United States.

However, his task is a race against time, for peace may come at any time, and if it comes before the amendment is passed, the returning southern states will stop it before it can become a law. Lincoln therefore must, by almost any means possible, obtain enough votes from a recalcitrant Congress before peace arrives.

Yet the president is torn, because an early peace would save thousands of lives. As the nation confronts its conscience over the freedom of its entire population, Lincoln faces his own crisis of conscience to end slavery or end the war, and in the end slavery is abolished, and the war ends. But there are tragic casualties that happen to Lincoln, as I said this film is based off the historical events of Lincoln's life, we as the audience see the aftermath of Lincoln's death, after he gets shot, it's cleverly done so the viewer doesn't see him get shot, and we get the reactions of others, the film ends splendidly with a shot of Lincoln giving one of his most famous speeches.

Performance wise, I thought Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln was fantastic. He resembled Lincoln very well, he proved to be good casting, and ideal for the role. I believed he was Lincoln from start to finish, I didn't know much about 'Lincoln' as a person until I saw this film and Daniel Day Lewis really convinced me of this was a man who tries to do good for the benefit of his country. He came across to me as 'a man on the edge' that's not neccacarly a bad thing, in Lincoln's case it was a very good thing because you get the feeling that he's going to have to make the decisison sometime, and when he does he has to be sure he's doing the right thing. to portray those emotions are not easy, it's very challenging and Daniel Day Lewis passed that test, I think with flying colours, he was brilliant, he out shone the rest of the cast by a clear mile.

I thought Sally Field as 'Mary Todd Lincoln' was very good as well, another fantastic actress doing her job.

Tommy Lee Jones in the supporting role of Thaddeus Stevens was brilliant, I'm not a fan of Tommy Lee Jones but I do enjoy watching his serious roles more than his comedy roles, I think he's more suited to being a serious actor and having a proper part, Lincoln was a chance for him to have another proper part and be a part of the story and help tell Lincoln's story, I thought he accomplished the challenges of his character very well.

I thought all the sets were very well adapted to the time it was set, they were authentic and designed down to the last detail, so I was impressed with all the sets and the costumes, they were brilliant, helped tell the story well.

The Music was fantastic, precise and well done, gives the scenes some meaning and depth to it.

Steven Spielberg, was absolutely the right man for the job as director, he did brilliantly with the resources he had. he complied everything to best of his abilities, he ticked all the boxes and achieved what I like to call 'another masterpiece'

Overall, 'Lincoln' is very historically accurate, is educational, is well shot and carefully put together and you get an incite into the man who was 'good' but not 'great'.

I hope they show this film in schools in the future, because it's very inspirational to think the power of one man, can change an entire cilivilation with a pen and paper.

I'm giving Lincoln an 8/10

1 Gold Star to Daniel Day Lewis
1 Silver Star to Sally Field
1 Silver Star to Tommy Lee Jones

1 Platinum Star to Steven Spielberg

Thank You for reading this review

Review - Gangster Squad

Gangster Squad - Based on a true story, a man on a mission Sgt. John O'Mara sets up a secret crew of police officers, to work together in an effort to take down the most ruthless mob king in the town; Mickey Cohen - the man who runs the city.

Hello All

Welcome to the next instalment of Dr.Film reviews which is a film I watched quite recently, 'Gangster Squad'. It's based on a true story starring Josh Brolin, Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling in the leading roles and directed by the director of '30 minutes or less' - Ruben Fleischer.

'Gangster Squad' arrived in the UK and the US on the 11th of January 2013, and resulted in being a film of mixed opinion and was heavily criticised by the news paper critics. It is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-Ray and on Itunes.

After seconds of watching this film, I knew I had to review it as soon as I could. this has been the first time, I have been ambitious to review a film. and that proves that 'Gangster Squad' had an effect on me as a viewer as being something very different indeed.

SPOILER ALERT : you know the drill, there's going to spoilers, if you don't like it. go away.

The film is set in 1949 Los Angeles, (five years after world war II) the audience is introduced to gangster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) who has moved in.

Cohen has the intention of controlling all criminal activity in the city, and sets out very much as soon as the audience meet him to proove LA is his town. if you don't like it, he will deal with you. Cohen is a man with a lot of power, he has bought local judges and police, and because of all the fear and degradation he has caused, no one in LA is willing to cross him or testify against him.

However Sergeant John O'Mara (Josh Brolin), a former World War II soldier, has a goal to settle down and insure that his family sleep in a peaceful Los Angeles at night. When his boss Police Chief William Parker decides to assign O'Mara to form a special unit of trusted cops whose mission is to take down Cohen and his business, O'Mara sets out to prove a point, and the gangster squad is born.

O'Mara chooses four cops and asks another cop comrade and friend of his, Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) to join him but Wooters refuses. But when he witnesses the murder of a young boy by Cohen's people, he joins them as part of a revenge agenda.

But Cohen is not stupid, and has his suspicions. he wonders if a rival is going after him, and eventually he realises it's the cops.

'Gangster Squad' is a very hard hitting, drastic, crime drama with a lot of sense of realism to it, you get a real thrill out of watching it. but having said that, those aspects of 'Gangster Squad' don't make it fantastic, what makes it stand out among all odds is the fact that the writer (Will Beall) and director (Ruben Fleischer) stuck to their guns, and immediately excelled their talents to bring words of the Paul Lieberman book to the screen, I found that very authentic.

I love what was accomplished, the sets, the designs, the costumes, they were all current and accurate to the time it was set. I thought that things very apparent and well set and the lighting was acute. In all honesty I think things paid off really well, very detailed and very athentic.

Performance wise I thought that it was hit and miss with the cast, some actors came through and delivered a strong performance, whilst others were not so strong and things fell down because of that, so I thought that the casting was okay. not brilliant, the good actors like 'Josh Brolin' and 'Ryan Gosling' did a good job, whilst other people like 'Mick Betancourt' were not so great.

The action sequences did look a bit silly at times, again hit and miss, some things like blowing up buildings or car chases were done very well, but some gun fights weren't done as well as I thought they could of been done, they weren't and, just not done to the best way they could of.

Is 'Gangster Squad' worth watching? it's difficult to say, I can't really give a straight forward yes or no answer, because I have a lot of mixed opinions on this film, and it wouldn't be my call to say so anyway, but what I will say is, it's different to everything else that's been out previously, and if you like variety then maybe consider seeing this sooner rather than later.

Overall I'm giving 'Gangster Squad' an 8/10 on the strength of the achievements from the writer and the director.

I'm not going to give out any stars to anyone in cast or crew, simply because of that 50/50 effect with the acting, to me, the cast were not all that special. they were some good actors who did a good job but then again nothing special. they're just doing a job at the end of the day. so no stars for this film I'm afraid.

Thank you for reading this review, I hope my opinion has not discredited what you think of the film, as everyone is entitled to their ownopinion.

My next review will be 'Lincoln' starring Daniel Day Lewis and directed by Steven Spielberg. that review will be posted on Monday the 10th of June 2013.

Review - Looper

Looper - The year is 2074, In the future when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent thirty years into the past, where a hired gunman awaits. this gunman is called 'a Looper' who is paid fasts amounts of money to kill, Joe is one of the mobs youngest Loopers, and when he learns the secrets of his job and that someone in the future is starting to close the loops, Joe's older self goes back in time to change the past.

Hello Everyone

Welcome to the newest Dr Film, Film review, in today's review I will be talking about Looper, a sci-fi action thriller starring Bruce Willis,  Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt. It was written and directed by Rian Johnson.

This film was released in the UK and the US on the 28th of September 2012.

SPOILER ALERT: As I say before I begin all my reviews, theres going to be spoilers. If you haven't seen the film and you don't want it to be spoiled. you may want to turn away now.

The imaginative ideas, and the variety that this film has to offer is what makes it stand out, I love the concept, I think it's very clever and very unique and it conspires on so many levels, this film is almost like a piece of elastic - you can keep stretching it. because the plot is a never ending story, and it conspires of a lot of back stories to several characters that can easily carry it on.

The Storyline of 'Looper' is set in the future, the year is 2044, Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a young man working for a group of killers known as "Loopers" whose job is to work for the mob and kill off people who are sent back in time, blindfolded  from the year 2074 by their bosses in the future. In order to prevent the 'Loopers' being traced back to the mob bosses, They send there future selves back in time blindfolded and their younger selves kill them like any other job, only to get a golden pay day. When Joe comes face to face with himself he hesitates resulting in the escape of his older self.

But Older Joe (Bruce Willis) is on a mission of his own, to prevent the destruction of his life in the future by killing a young boy who would grow up to become what he known in the future as 'The Rain Maker' and the Rian Maker is closing all the loops.

When younger Joe becomes an outcast, he then is turned onto a mission of his own to prevent his older self from killing this young boy, who would become the rain maker. so much so that he kills himself to keep Emily Blunt's character and her child safe.

As a story, there's loads of back stories that could keep the story going forever. It's mainly about a mother's protection over her son, the desperation and the anger of a man who grieves over the loss of his wife, a young punk who thinks he owns the streets because he works for the mob. It's based around three characters and all of them have a different back story and importance to the story as well, without one of those three characters the story would not work.

The settings are very futuristic and atmospheric, and quite graphic as well, I considered some settings to be graphically toned in order to impressionise the mood of darkness and glumness.

Performance wise, I thought Joseph Gordon-Levitt as young Joe was great, but then again Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a fantastic actor, so one could expect no less, he really showed a sense of realism to the character he was playing and played things dead straight and how they were.

Bruce Willis was fantastic, Bruce Willis of course is established for doing heavy action sequences, he's a great action man, quick on his feet and I couldn't fault his performance, there wasn't a moment in his performance that wasn't trufual, you can tell that Bruce really did invest in the script and made the character of old Joe real, which is a man who will stop at nothing to get revenge against the young boy who killed his wife.

Emily Blunt, was also delivered a very strong performance, she too stayed true to the character that was written on paper, I really admired her enthusiasm to what she did, in terms of her body language, her expressions, her mannerisms. It was believable to me.

The Script was excellent, every word of dialogue was current, and was original. Rian Johnson did a brilliant job of writing the script and bringing it to the screen, it's no easy task to write your own words, hire the actors who you trust to deliver your words to justice, and direct them as well, and to get a big movie star like 'Bruce Willis' is an achievement in itself.

In a nutshell 'Looper' is has some brilliant concepts and ideas, it's built up atmospherically and was brought to justice by a really good sci-fi writer and director. It just shows that good sci-fi writers they do exist. and they definitely existed in 'Looper'

I am giving 'Looper' an 8/10

1 Gold Star to Bruce Willis
1 Gold Star to Joseph Gordon-Levitt
1 Gold Star to Emily Blunt

1 Platinum Star to Rian Johnson

Thank You for reading this review.

My next review is going to be 'Gangster Squad' a film based of a true story. starring Josh Brolin, Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling and directed by Ruben Fleischer. I will post my thoughts on that film on Saturday the 8th of June 2013.

Review - Good Will Hunting

Good Will Hunting - On the campus of one of America's leading Universities, Will Hunting, has an advanced gift for mathematics, he is also the person who cleans the floors. After getting in a fight and resisting arrest, he is forced to seek help from a psychologist to find the long wanted direction in his life.

 Hey Everyone

In today's film review, I will be looking at a hard hitting drama, based around a man with true potential, to be good but isn't.

'Good Will Hunting' a film directed by Gus Van Sant, Written by and Starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck  in the leading roles.

SPOILER ALERT : Spoiler alert means, there's going to be spoilers so if you haven't seen this film and would like to without things being spoiled you should probably read this review a bit later.

There are a few key aspects I wish to talk about this film inperticular, certain scenes that stood out to me as being good in terms of effect on the viewer, some scenes which I thought were good in showing relationship in terms of character, some scenes which showed great perseverance in directing, characters I liked, characters relationships with other characters, how that relationship made the film feel real and stand out.

This film was released in the USA on the 9th of January 1998 and came to the UK on the 6th of March 1998, so it released in what some people would call 'The Golden Era' of films, because the 90's stands out in people's minds as being 'The Golden Era' of films.

This film truly is a brilliantly written piece, very touching, very hard hitting, very well executed. It tells the audience the story of a wayward young man called Will Hunting (Matt Damon) who struggles to find his identity in life and his place in life, he finds himself living in a world where he can solve any problem, except the one brewing deep within himself.

His best friend is Chuckie Sullivan (Ben Affleck) who he hangs out with every day alongside him are his other friends who form a group of friends for Will to egist with. Will tends to be the one who stands out from the crowd, he is a janitor at MIT and after everyone's gone home completes the most complicated of Maths problems because he has the intelligence to do so, this impresses Prof. Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård) who becomes determined to find out who is the genius that's solving these problems.

After Will gets into a bad fight and resists arrest Lambeau bails him out under his supervisison, on the condition that he meets with him every week and helps him with the most of advanced mathematical complications and that he sees a psychologist once a week. It is then for the first time in Will's life, he meets his match with Sean Maguire (Robin Williams).

It's throughout the film Will and Sean become good friends who understand their differences. And the viewer gets many good insists into their relationship with scenes such as the scene on the park bench, the when did you know discussion scene, it's not your fault scene I thought that stood out very well. the point of their relationship is they look like two people who aren't going to get on but they do because the story wouldn't go anywhere if they didn't.

I thought that the friendship between Lambeau and Sean was identified well, two people who have their differences but can still have a laugh over a pint and talk about old times, there's a good scene between them where there in a pub and their talking about what's best for will. Lambeau wants him to pursue the maths career and Sean feels Will has the initiative to make his own decisions in life.

And later on in the film there's a very powerful argument that the two characters have about Will and the aggression really comes out it is such a great scene. the writing and performances in this film are what make it stand above so many others.

Also Will is his own person, and it when he meets his soul mate (Minnie Driver) who opens his mind and his heart.the connections that Will had with Skyla, I thought were good in showing the identity of Will as Will and that he can be sensitive, he can have feeling towards another human being that isn't his friend.

The director Gus Van Sant really was top dog on this project, he seized the challenge with both hands, and did everything for the right reason and overly was very impressed with his direction.

I thought Matt Damon as 'Will Hunting' was really good, but then again Matt Damon is a good actor so one expect no less.

Robin Williams was amazing, I know Robin Williams is better known for his more eccentric talents in films, but hear he plays a sensitive, serious character and it just shows Robin Williams can do serious roles, I though he really pulled it off, he convinced me from start to finish.

In a nutshell, I would say give this film a watch, but with your attention has to be on it from start to finish, you have to be in the right mood to watch it. As a film, yes its good. I like it a lot

I'm giving it an 8/10

1 Gold Star to Matt Damon
1 Gold Star to Robin Williams

Thank You for reading this review, my next film that I will review will be 'Looper' starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and written and directed by Rian Johnson, I will post that review on Friday the 7th of June 2013.

Review - Kick Ass

Kick Ass - Dave Lizewski has a vision that are superhero's out there, ready to save the day. Dave on the other hand is an unnoticed. unaccomplished high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to protect his town by becoming a super-hero. even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so. After he becomes successful on the Internet, he gains the help of two anonymous friends to become a force that kicks ass.

Hey Everyone, welcome to the newest of Dr.Film reviews, which is Kick Ass. The superhero movie with a twist.directed by Matthew Vaughn.

SPOILER ALERT: As ever, there's going to be spoilers so to the people who don't want spoilers, please turn away now.

This movie was released in the UK on the 26th of March 2010 and was released in the USA on the 16th of April 2010.

I have to start off this review, by saying Kick Ass isn't like any other superhero movie, and so for that reason it can't be taken too seriously, if you take it too seriously then that spoils the whole enjoyment of the film, because some of it's piss take, and then some of it isn't. As a premis this movie classifies to me as a comedy because most of the jokes are current, and they all work.

The Storyline is about a young man called Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who see's himself as an average, unaccomplished, unnoticed high school student. As a comic book fan he believes that there are real superhero's out there, ready to save the day from the forces of crime. Dave has only a few friends and lives at home alone with his father (Garrett M. Brown). Dave's life is not very difficult in comparison to his personal trials.

However, one day he makes the simple craziest decision to become a super-hero even though he knows he has no powers or training, but believes he can stop crime wherever it is.

There is really bad guy called Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong) who controls the mob, and is the arch enemy of Damon 'Big Daddy' Macready (Nicholas Cage) who's plan is to take revenge on D'Amico and his whole mob gang, after D'Amico framed him for a crime he did not commit. he is training up his daughter Mindy (Chloë Moretz) to help him with his plans as 'Hit Girl'.

After Kick Ass becomes famous on the Internet and on TV,  Dave's alternate ego turns into a celebrity and well known face.

But Frank D'Amico has his eye on Kick Ass and see's him as a threat to him and his mob gang, so D'Amico will stop at nothing to kill Kick Ass.

This film is awesome, it is such a treat for all comic book fans, so enjoyable. I thought the story was good, not too complex. good hero's, convincing villain, atmospheric settings, lots and lots of action and graphic violence which makes it believable as a comic strip movie.

It just felt to me like an action movie and I loved this film, in seconds. I just felt it was so refreshing to present the ideas across in such a very well executed way, from writing the dialogue down on paper to bringing it to life on the big screen.

All the effects, were amazing so visually accomplished very well. I thought that the designs of the super suits were interesting. particularly seeing as Big Daddy reminds viewers a lot of The Dark Knight, but that doesn't fault Nicholas Cage's agility by any means, I thought all his actions were quick pased and very agitamet.

The main members of the cast, that stick out in my mind as being great were Aaron Johnson as Kick Ass / Dave Lizewski, I thought he was good at making his teenage boy come true to the viewers and accomplish that character throughout the entire film.

Another one that stuck out in my mind, was Mark Strong as 'Frank D'Amico' you can not fault his performance Mark Strong is a fantastic villain, he's a great actor who is very convincing as someone who could be evil, who could be dangerous, so very happy with how Mark Strong played his character straight and proper.

In a nutshell, Kick Ass is absolutely worth watching. It's fantastic.

I'm going to give it an 8/10

1 Gold Star to Aaron Johnson
1 Gold Star to Mark Strong

Thank You for reading this review, my next review is going to be 'Good Will Hunting' starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Robin Williams. directed by Gus Van Sant and written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. I will be posting that review on Thursday the 6th of June 2013.

Review - Friends with Benefits

Friends with Benefits : After both going through two heart breaking break ups, two friends Dylan and Jamie decide enough is enough. After watching the clichés of romantic comedy movie Dylan suggests to Jamie about adding the act of sex to their friendship could help out their problems. but as it turns out matters lead to complications.

Hey everyone

Welcome to the newest film review by Dr.Film, which is 'Friends with Benifits' romantic comedy starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. This is a romantic comedy; with not so much of the usual clichés you'd expect to find in a romantic comedy.

SPOILER ALERT: As I talk about this film, there will be a few spoilers revealed, so if your one of those people who doesn't like spoilers, you may want to turn away now.

This film came out in America on the 22nd of July 2011 and came to the UK's attention on the 9th of September 2011.

The Storyline is about a friendship that turns into a relationship at the end, the characters entail the lives of Jamie (Mila Kunis) who is a New York head-hunter trying to sign Los Angeles-based Dylan Harper (Justin Timberlake) for her client.

He takes the job with all seriousness and makes the move, they quickly become friends. But their friendship very quickly turns into a friendship with benefits, After watching a Romantic comedy Dylan suggests to Jamie it would be a good idea to have sex, and only sex. However Jamie has a history of being emotionally damaged in the past with boys she's dated and Dylan has a history of being emotionally unavailable, so they both have to try to not fall for each other, in the way of a Hollywood romantic comedy.

They manage to experiment with Dylan's idea, and they both still manage to remain friends when Jamie wishes it to stop. Jamie then decides to get back out into the world of dating, and true love with confidence only to have her confidence crushed when the guy she's with lets her down.

Dylan then suggests to Jamie to accompany him to Los Angeles, to meet his family for the 4th of July celebrations, but after over hearing what Dylan truly feels about Jamie, Jamie is left disappointed and let down with her friend. It is then Dylan has time to step back and realise the importance of Jamie, and how much of an influence she is to him in his life. Dylan then manages to make up for what he said, and gets his best friend back.

The moral line or quote from 'Friends with Benifits' is 'It's not who you want to spend your Friday night with, It's who you want to spend all day Saturday with' I think that quote pretty much sums up the film in general for me, and for how things stick out in the real world, it's that sensitivity of relationships that I like about this film, which is really good.

I think that this film is something new, and it adds some variety to the form of Hollywood romantic comedies. and the people making it know it's a comedy and their playing for laughs. and sometimes the laughs are there, sometimes they're not.

I thought the sex scenes, where crafty and very well directed. it's good that the actors have confidence in themselves, about being naked on screen.

I just thought, it was a very feel good film. with a lot of hit and miss gags. the acting was pretty good too, some of the cast where hit and miss for me too. but I thought that the connections between Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, worked splendidly. I liked the way they showed their frames of status, two friends who you never thought would fall in love, actually do fall in love. it's the unexpected stuff in love to me that's makes a relationship special.

I thought Justin Timberlake as 'Dylan Harper' was really good, I think he's a good stable actor, and should do more acting as he's very good.

I thought Mila Kunis as 'Jamie' was also very good, very much on par to Justin Timberlake. having said that I thought she was great.

The director Will Gluck was very precice in communicating what he wanted, in showing the identity of relationships; and his understanding of directing. I was very pleased that he didn't under do it, he did a romantic comedy such as this, it they way it should be done. with no strings attached.

In a nutshell 'Friends with Benifits' is good. very much hit and miss with the humour and the acting, but the direction is precice and you won't be disapointed with the two leading roles.

I'm giving this film a 6.5/10

1 gold star to Justin Timberlake
1 gold star to Mila Kunis
